![]() ![]() One of your first characters to join is poor Egil who is the poster child for this design choice, going up on the chopping block four times during the course of the game and having an achievement avaialable for keeping him alive through the game. The first example of this is in chapter 2 of the game. This would be something you could overlook if the game gave you warnings that something was going to happen or forshadowed the deaths in some way but most of the time the choices are innocous and the deaths sudden. This is the only way a character can die in the tactical combat part of the game it is impossible to lose a character so you end up with some very strained suspension of disbelief that this character that just got hit 10 times in a row gets murdered in one hit during a text only story scene. The game warns you as you start that your choices matter and what it really means is that you're playing blind minesweeper most of the game with your favorite characters lives in the balance and the clues as to which decisions will result in the loss of a character or not and some characters get put up on the chopping block several times. Banner Saga has taken enjoyment away from me and I would have been happier to have not have buyed and played it because, not only was I not entertained, now I'm irritated as well as out $5 and 8 hours. I picked up Banner Saga from the sale and proceeed to play through 80% of the story in about 8 hours of gameplay and I am mad. This post is full of spoilers and a butt-ton of salt.
